Nite Ize Radiant 200 collapsible lantern + torch

Nite Ize Radiant 200 Collapsible lantern - I wasn’t overly excited about this when it arrived, just another light right? That’s what I was expecting, but now I have a new light source that comes camping everywhere with us, it’s even my light of choice for wild camping. Why? Because of it’s small size and versatility.

The Nite Ize Radiant 200 is a lantern that compacts down small, it has 2 power settings and it also has a light built into it’s base so it can be used as a downlight in conjunction with the lantern setting or just as a handheld torch/flashlight.

It’s very well made, with a rugged strong design and a chucky outer protection that feels like it will help it take quite a few knocks and last a long time. It runs on 4 aa batteries and it is rather bright when on full power and it’s water resistant too.

I’ve used this light on a few occasions now, both family camping in the Zempire TL Aero 5 man tent and also wild camping in the MSR Mutha Hubba. Whilst family camping, it’s been hung up by it’s handy spring loaded handle/hook, it’s been sat on the bedside table and also used as a torch for nipping off to the loo. As for the wild camping, it spent most of it’s time being used as a torch and it doesn’t take up much room in your backpack either.

I said that it was rugged, this applies to the switch too which is big and easy to operate. I recon that this would be a great light for colder weather too as I can see that it would be easy to use and handle whilst wearing gloves, whether you are turning it on or off with the switch, hanging it up or opening/closing the lantern.

It is very unique, especially with the different was in which it can be used. I like it a lot, and it will be getting a lot more use from me – it’s going to be a very well travelled lantern.
